Actor-director Dhanush has once again fuelled speculation about a possible political entry after urging his fans to channel their unity into public service. Addressing a gathering at a blood donation camp organised by his fans on Sunday, the actor encouraged his supporters to go beyond film celebrations and actively engage in welfare activities within their communities.
Taking the stage at the event, the actor said, “So many people are gathered in one place. There’s a great power in this kind of unity. We need to give that unity a purpose. Beyond just audio launches and meetups, we need to engage in even more welfare activities. Understand the needs of the people in your area, the families living around you and help them in whatever way possible. Do whatever help you can for them. I need to feel even prouder of you. I believe you will do it.”

As soon as the video went viral, fans speculated that after Thalapathy Vijay, Dhanush is set to enter politics. One X user wrote, “Looks like the queue for politics is getting longer. Everyone seems to think, ‘If Thalapathy Vijay entered politics, why not me?'”
Another X user commented, “Welcome to politics, @dhanushkraja. Tamil Nadu needs educated, disciplined and courageous voices not just actors chasing power.”

On National Award Row
During the same event, he even addressed the criticism surrounding his National Film Awards wins, admitting that there were “definitely better” Tamil films than his directorial Raayan in 2024. At the same time, he urged critics and audiences to celebrate the larger achievement of a Tamil actor bringing home two National Awards in the same year.
Dhanush received a Special Mention for his performance in Captain Miller, while Raayan won the National Award for Best Tamil Film. While his recognition for Captain Miller sparked debate online, it was Raayan‘s win that drew the strongest reactions, with many arguing that other Tamil films were more deserving of the honour.
