Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated sharply after Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes along the border regions, reportedly targeting militant hideouts. However, Afghan authorities have alleged that the strikes hit civilian areas, including homes and religious sites, leading to significant casualties.
According to Afghan officials, the attacks took place in eastern provinces such as Nangarhar and Paktika, where dozens of people, including women and children, were killed or injured. The Afghan Ministry of Defence condemned the strikes as a violation of sovereignty and international law.
Pakistan’s Justification
Pakistan has defended the operation, stating that it was a targeted action against militant groups, particularly the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Islamabad blames for a recent surge in terror attacks inside the country.
