MARKAPURAM: In a horrific road accident, at least 14 people lost their lives and 23 sustained injuries after a private bus collided head-on with a tipper truck in Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram area early Thursday morning. The bus burst into flames following the impact, trapping many passengers inside.
The bus, carrying over 37 passengers, was traveling from Jagityal in Telangana to Kaligiri in Nellore district when the accident occurred. The reason behind the collision is not yet known and is being investigated.

According to preliminary information, the bus was heading to Kaligiri in Nellore district when the head-on collision occurred. The impact caused the bus to catch fire, leading to the tragic deaths of those trapped inside.
Rescue Operations
The administration responded quickly upon learning about the incident and dispatched multiple rescue teams. With the help of local residents, rescue personnel were able to pull several people out of the burning bus and transport them to a nearby hospital.

“We have shifted 23 injured people to the hospital. Efforts are on to gather complete details of the incident,” Markapuram Superintendent of Police (SP) V Harshavardhan Raju told PTI.
CM Naidu Expresses Grief
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the incident.
He spoke to officials to ensure adequate medical assistance for all the injured persons. In addition, he directed officials to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the cause of the accident and submit a report.

Rescue teams are also working to gather data on the victims’ relatives. After completing all procedures, the victims’ bodies will be handed over to their families.
