According to Virender Sambyal, Regional Officer of NHAI-Chennai, work is progressing swiftly at their massive 64-acre casting yard near Chembarambakkam, where components for the two-tier structure are being fabricated.
“The State government is cooperating with us and has promised to help us increase the number of working hours daily from 11 to 16, so we can complete the work as per schedule,” Sambyal told mediapersons on Tuesday, March 10.
Significance of the Project
The Chennai Port-Maduravoyal elevated corridor is a critical infrastructure project designed to:
- Provide a high-speed connectivity link between the Chennai Port and the growing western suburbs like Maduravoyal.
- Decongest the city’s roads by diverting port-bound traffic, especially heavy vehicles, onto the elevated corridor.
