Telangana Jagruthi founder and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday announced the launch of her new political party, Sarvodaya Telangana, marking what she described as the beginning of a “new era” in the state’s politics.
The party will be formally launched on April 25, 2026, at 10 am at Advaya Conventions in Medchal, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Kavitha said the party’s name and flag would be officially unveiled at the launch event.
The Vision: ‘Sarvodaya’

Explaining the vision behind the party, Kavitha said the term “Sarvodaya” stands for universal upliftment and welfare for all, with inclusive development and self-sufficiency as its core principles. She said the new political platform aims to address the unmet aspirations of the people of Telangana more than a decade after statehood.
Why a New Party?
Kavitha criticized both the ruling BRS and other parties for failing to deliver on key promises.
“Even after 12 years, we have not achieved the ‘Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu’—water, funds, and jobs—which formed the basis of the Telangana movement,” she said, alleging that successive governments have failed to meet the expectations of farmers, youth, industrialists, and marginalized communities.
She added that communities ranging from SCs, STs, and BCs to minorities such as Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians continue to face challenges, while women remain underrepresented in politics and policymaking. “All sections are being treated as vote banks,” she remarked.
A Women-Led Movement
Positioning herself as a “Telangana Adabidda” (daughter of Telangana) , Kavitha called for a new, inclusive political force led by a woman.
“We have seen enough parties led by men. There is a need for a women-led political movement to achieve true Sarvodaya Telangana,” she said.
The Jagruthi Legacy
Highlighting the work of Telangana Jagruthi over the past two decades, Kavitha said the organisation has consistently worked for diverse sections of society, including smaller and often overlooked communities.
- Provided financial assistance of ₹2,500 as pension support to families of around 300 farmers who died by suicide between 2014 and 2018.
- Extended aid to thousands during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Focus on Youth and Women
Kavitha emphasized the need for greater involvement of young people in politics.
“Politics impacts every aspect of our lives. Youth should not stay away but actively participate and transform the system,” she said, inviting youngsters across Telangana to join the new party.
She reiterated that youth and women would be given importance in the new party and sought the support of women, saying they have seen parties led by men for years and should now back her new outfit.
Positioning: Not a ‘B Team’
Kavitha asserted that her party would not be the “B team” of any political formation but would emerge as the “number one” in Telangana.
“The new party would be Telangana’s regional party. No national-level leaders would be invited to the launch event,” she added.
She also criticized the BRS, saying it “lost focus” when it gave up Telangana and announced a national foray. “There is no regional party in Telangana now. So, our Jagruthi would be the party of every household.”
