In a dramatic revelation that sheds new light on the assassination of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, a leaked audio recording has detailed how his son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, survived the US-Israeli missile strike by a matter of seconds. According to a report by The Telegraph, Mojtaba stepped out of his compound moments before it was hit, escaping with only a minor leg injury while his father and dozens of others were killed.

The audio, purportedly from a private meeting of Iranian officials, provides a minute-by-minute account of the strike that decimated the country’s leadership on February 28.

The Narrow Escape

The recording captures Mazaher Hosseini, head of protocol for the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s office, describing the fateful sequence of events to other officials.

“God’s will was that Mojtaba had to go out to the yard to do something and then return,” Hosseini is heard saying. “He was outside and was heading upstairs when they struck the building with a missile.”

According to the report, Israeli ballistic missiles struck the compound in rapid succession. At least three missiles were used in the attack.

  • One missile hit the section where Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was located, killing him instantly.
  • Another missile struck Mojtaba’s residence on an upper floor.

Hosseini stated that Mojtaba escaped the attack with only a minor leg injury.

The Devastating Toll

The leaked audio also provided graphic details of the attack’s devastation, revealing the identities of other high-profile victims.

Questions Over Mojtaba’s Condition

The leaked audio surfaces amid intense speculation about the new Supreme Leader’s health and whereabouts. Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the conflict began. His only message, broadcast on Iranian state television, was a vow of revenge for the “blood of martyrs,” which has only fueled rumors about the extent of his injuries.

US President Donald Trump addressed the uncertainty on Monday, telling reporters at the White House, “A lot of people are saying that he’s badly disfigured, other people are saying he’s dead. We haven’t seen him at all. We don’t know if he’s dead or not.”

The leaked audio, if authentic, confirms he is alive, but the world has yet to see any visual proof of his condition. The report adds a new layer of drama to an already volatile geopolitical crisis.
