BENGALURU: Fans of Kannada superstar Yash will have to wait a little longer for his highly anticipated film, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups. The film’s grand trailer launch, scheduled for March 8 in Bengaluru, has been cancelled, and the release date has been pushed from March 19 to June 4, 2026.

The decision comes as the escalating conflict in West Asia, following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliation, has disrupted cinema operations in key overseas markets, particularly the Gulf region.

Why the Delay?

The film’s producers, KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, cited the instability in the Middle East as the primary reason for the postponement. With cinema operations facing disruptions, the team decided to realign its entire publicity calendar to ensure a smoother and more effective global rollout.

The strategic delay was made following discussions with distribution partners. All promotional activities, including the trailer launch, have been temporarily halted until closer to the new June release date.

What Was Planned?

Organizers had planned an extensive promotional campaign for March 8, with media professionals from across India set to attend the Bengaluru event. The trailer launch was meant to kick off the film’s final publicity phase ahead of its originally planned March 19 release.

That date would have seen Toxic clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge. However, with this postponement, the Aditya Dhar-directed film will now have a solo release on March 19.

About the Film

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Yash himself, Toxic is being positioned as a pan-Indian and global cinematic experience. It is being shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including:

  • Nayanthara
  • Kiara Advani
  • Huma Qureshi
  • Rukmini Vasanth
  • Tara Sutaria

Official Statement from Makers

In an official statement, the production houses reiterated that the decision, though difficult, was taken in the best interests of audiences and distribution partners worldwide.

They emphasized the film’s scope as a global project and noted that the promotional campaign would be realigned and resumed closer to the new June date. The postponement aims to maximize the film’s reach in both domestic and international markets.

What’s Next?

A new promotional roadmap for Toxic is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Until then, fans will need to wait a little longer for their first detailed look at one of the most anticipated films of the year.
