Trimurti Films Sues Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios Over Song Used in Dhurandhar 2

Bollywood production company Trimurti Films has filed a suit against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s production house, B62 Studios, alleging unauthorised use of the song ‘Rang De Lal’ in the blockbuster film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge.

The dispute centres on the rights to the song, originally co-composed by Anand–Milind, with lyrics by Sameer Anjaan. It featured in the 1989 film Tridev, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Sunny Deol, and Jackie Shroff. The track features vocals by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.

The Allegation

Trimurti Films claims that the song, or a version substantially similar to it, has been used in the defendant’s film without obtaining the requisite licences or permissions.

Ownership Claim

According to sources familiar with the matter, Trimurti has asserted ownership and/or control over the relevant rights in the musical work and sound recording. It has alleged that the use amounts to copyright infringement, including unauthorised reproduction and communication of the work to the public.

Relief Sought

• Injunctive relief: Restraining further use of the song
• Damages: Monetary compensation for the infringement
• Other consequential reliefs: As deemed appropriate by the court

Trimurti has also raised concerns over potential commercial exploitation of the track through theatrical release, streaming platforms, and promotional material.
