Bengaluru, India – Days after the worldwide release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, fans of Yash expressed disappointment over what they perceived as a lack of support for the actor’s ambitious project from the Kannada film industry. Yash, who returns to the big screen after four years, has co-written, produced, and starred in the gangster drama directed by Geetu Mohandas. While the film, made on a massive budget of ₹400 crore, features a star-studded cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, and Huma Qureshi, it faced competition from well-supported releases in other languages.
Fans noted that Ravi Teja’s comeback film Irumudi received widespread appreciation from the Telugu fraternity, while Nivin Pauly’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit received immense support from the Malayalam industry. This led to social media backlash, with Kannada film buffs questioning why an ambitious project from Yash, a pan-Indian star, was not receiving similar industry backing. However, veteran actors Upendra and Sudeep have now stepped in to praise the actor and his team.

Upendra described Toxic as “a new world and an entirely new experience,” extending his congratulations to Yash and his team. Sudeep, currently working on the period drama Billa Ranga Baasha, called the film “unusual and commendable.” He praised Yash for attempting something out of the box rather than taking a predictable, formulaic approach, adding, “It takes a different mindset, conviction, and most importantly, the guts to attempt something like this.” The support from these senior stars has provided a boost to the film’s morale. Yash will next be seen as Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, set for a Diwali release this year.
