Prakash Vidyalaya Celebrates Independence Day with Grandeur; S. R. Deharia Urges Students to Build Skills Alongside Academics

Bacheli, on August 15, 2026: Prakash Vidyalaya celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with a grand flag-hoisting ceremony and a vibrant cultural programme. Shri S. R. Dehariya, Deputy General Manager and Head of Department (HOD) at NMDC Limited, a Government of India Navratna Public Sector Enterprise, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest

He is also the Founder and Patron-Guide of SMW Media & Entertainment Private Limited.

Shri H. K. Gunawat, General Manager (Electrical), was also associated with the programme and addressed the children on the occasion, sharing words of encouragement and guidance with them.

Flag Hoisting Marks the Beginning of Celebrations

The Independence Day programme began with the hoisting of the national flag by Chief Guest Shri S. R. Dehariya, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Dehariya extended his heartfelt Independence Day wishes to the students, teachers, parents and school management. He expressed his gratitude to the institution for inviting him to be part of the celebrations.

Paying tribute to India’s freedom fighters, he said that Independence Day is a reminder of their immense sacrifices, dedication and struggle for the nation’s freedom. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from their lives and contribute to the continued development of the country.

Students Are the Foundation of Tomorrow’s India

Speaking to the students, Shri Dehariya emphasized that the younger generation will play a crucial role in shaping India’s future.

He highlighted the importance of education, discipline, hard work, honesty and strong values in building responsible citizens. He urged students to set ambitious goals, work sincerely towards achieving them, and always respect their parents and teachers.

He further encouraged them to develop a sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.

Shri Dehariya Emphasizes Skill Development Alongside Academics

One of the key messages of his address was the importance of developing at least one special skill alongside academic education.

He encouraged students to identify their interests and dedicate time to nurturing them. These interests, he said, could include music, dance, painting, writing, sports, singing, anchoring, acting, innovation or any other creative field.

According to Shri Dehariya, consistent practice and genuine passion can help students develop confidence and establish their own identity. He stressed that with effective time management, students can perform well academically while also pursuing their talents.

Balancing Profession and Passion

Sharing an example from his own experience, Shri Dehariya spoke about his continued passion for music despite holding a senior administrative position. Alongside his professional responsibilities, he works as a music director and lyricist, and his creative compositions have received appreciation.

He used his experience to encourage students to pursue their interests rather than limiting themselves solely to academic achievements.

He said that identifying and developing individual talents can open new opportunities and help young people distinguish themselves in their personal and professional lives.

Youth as the Driving Force of Nation-Building

Shri Dehariya described India’s youth as the architects of the nation’s future. He stressed that the country needs educated, disciplined, aware and hardworking young citizens who can take India towards greater progress.

He also emphasized that education should extend beyond marks and academic achievements. According to him, schools must help develop responsible, compassionate and value-driven individuals who can make meaningful contributions to society.

Respect for Parents and Teachers Is Essential

Highlighting the importance of character development, Shri Dehariya urged students to maintain respect for their parents and teachers.

He said that knowledge becomes truly meaningful when combined with good values and discipline. The combination of education, character and respect, he noted, is essential for creating responsible citizens and strengthening the nation.

Shri Dehariya also spoke about NMDC’s commitment to supporting education and community development.

He stated that the organization continues to contribute towards improving infrastructure and facilities while promoting a safe, clean and healthy environment for children.

He emphasized that providing quality education and a supportive learning environment is a collective responsibility involving schools, families, communities and other stakeholders.
