New Delhi, India – After multiple rounds of admissions, Delhi University has announced a Spot Admission round to fill 13,344 vacant undergraduate seats for the 2026-27 academic year. The university, which has approximately 71,600 undergraduate seats, has invited students to participate in the Spot Admission round on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. The seat allocation process, which began on July 16, has left vacancies across categories, including 2,113 in General, 4,133 in OBC-NCL, 2,038 in SC, and 2,476 in ST categories.
Top colleges on the North Campus, including St. Stephens, Hindu, Hansraj, and Kirori Mal, still have seats available for B.A./B.Sc. (Hons) courses in science, languages, and the B.A. programme. Most vacant seats are in B.A. (Hons) courses in languages like Sanskrit, Tamil, and Bengali, according to Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi. “The Spot Admission round has been announced on schedule and we hope to fill all the remaining seats,” she said. The university issued 93,033 seat allotments against 71,600 seats initially, but many students withdrew their admissions.
In the Spot Admission round, students who applied for CSAS(UG)-2026 but were not admitted as of August 22 can participate. It will be mandatory for candidates to accept the allocated seat, with no ‘Upgrade’ or ‘Withdraw’ options. The university plans to complete the admission process by August 29. Additionally, DU has introduced UG admission based on Class 12 CBSE results, with a list of colleges offering seats through this route. Top colleges like Indraprastha College for Women and Gargi College have commenced admissions to B.A. (Hons) Sanskrit based on CBSE scores.
