Mumbai, India – Abhishek Banerjee, known for his versatile performances across films and series, has shared his thoughts on relationships, communication, and the value of personal space ahead of the release of Lust Stories 3 on Netflix. The anthology, which explores modern relationships through four short films, features Banerjee alongside Konkona Sen Sharma in one of the segments.
Speaking about what he has learned from his own relationships and the characters he plays, Banerjee emphasised that communication is the foundation of any healthy partnership. “You have to talk. You cannot assume that the other person knows what you are thinking,” he said. “Most problems in relationships arise because people stop communicating and start assuming.”
Banerjee also stressed the importance of giving each other space. “You need to have your own life, your own friends, your own interests,” he said. “If you are completely dependent on each other for happiness, it becomes suffocating. Space is not distance. Space is respect.” His reflections come as Lust Stories 3 brings together four directors—Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Kiran Rao—to explore themes of love, desire, and human connection in contemporary India.
In his segment, directed by Kiran Rao, Banerjee plays a character grappling with the complexities of a modern relationship. The film also stars Konkona Sen Sharma, and their on-screen dynamic is said to be one of the highlights of the anthology. The ensemble cast includes Radhika Apte, Vijay Varma, Ali Fazal, Radhika Madan, and Aditi Rao Hydari, among others. Lust Stories 3 is currently streaming on Netflix.
