New Delhi, India – If companies miss India in terms of investments, they will miss a large chunk of the 21st century, former Secretary of State for Global Spain in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Manuel Muñiz, said in an interview. Speaking to The Hindu, Muñiz, who is also the Rector of IE University in Madrid, added that while the India-EU trade deal is expected to double trade, about half of this increase would be in services, which reflects the maturity of the partnership.
Muñiz emphasised that there is an “immense case” to be made for European companies to be investing in India, highlighting the scale of opportunity that the country presents. His remarks come as India and the European Union continue negotiations on a comprehensive trade agreement that is expected to significantly boost bilateral economic ties.
The former Spanish official’s comments underscore the growing recognition among global investors of India’s importance in the 21st-century economic landscape. With its large and expanding consumer market, skilled workforce, and growing digital economy, India has become an increasingly attractive destination for foreign investment. The India-EU trade deal, when finalised, is expected to further deepen economic integration between the two regions, with the services sector playing a particularly significant role.
