Nagoya (Japan): India pulled off a stunning one-two finish in the men’s 100m T47 final at the Asian Para Games on Wednesday (October 21, 2026), with Dilip Gavit clinching gold and Mohammed Morssinganakath securing silver.

Gavit crossed the line in 10.69 seconds to take the top honours, while Morssinganakath followed closely in 10.72 seconds — just three-hundredths of a second behind his compatriot.

China’s Kangjun Shi completed the podium, taking bronze with a time of 10.80 seconds.

The 1-2 finish marks a significant moment for India’s para-athletics contingent at the continental showpiece in Nagoya, with two Indian athletes finishing ahead of a strong international field.

Understanding the T47 Classification

The T47 category is reserved for athletes with a unilateral upper-limb impairment that causes low-to-moderate asymmetric balance and coordination challenges. Competitors in this class typically compete without prosthetics, relying on their natural limb function alongside specialised training.

Both Gavit and Morssinganakath’s sub-10.75-second runs underline the growing depth of India’s para-sprinting talent on the Asian stage.
