New Delhi – The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has vowed to continue its march to Parliament for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, despite facing one of the most violent confrontations with Delhi Police in recent years. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke confirmed the decision late Monday night, declaring from a reclaimed stage at Jantar Mantar, “We will march again. We are not leaving this protest site.” The announcement comes after a day of intense street clashes that left scores of protesters and over 118 police personnel injured.
The “Sansad Chalo” march on Monday, the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, saw thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The situation escalated as police resorted to teargas shells and lathicharge in response to stone-pelting. Amid the chaos, internet services were shut down in and around Jantar Mantar, with connectivity still affected late into the night. Despite the rain and exhaustion, the atmosphere at the protest site remained charged, with at least a thousand protesters and hundreds of police personnel present.
In a development away from the streets, the government opened a channel for dialogue. CJP representatives met Union Health Minister JP Nadda twice on Monday. Sources told India Today TV that the first meeting occurred around 11:50 am, where Nadda asked for demands to be submitted in writing. The representatives returned at 4 pm, handing over a written memorandum with three key demands. However, the talks did not deter Dipke from reaffirming the protest’s continuation.
As the Jantar Mantar site was reclaimed and a makeshift stage erected after its earlier removal by police, Dipke addressed the crowd, forming a human chain with party leaders. CJP functionaries reiterated, “The protest will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns,” adding that a meeting to outline the next course of action was underway. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have begun registering multiple FIRs and are examining CCTV and mobile phone footage to investigate potential larger plots behind the violence. A Sub-Inspector confirmed to India Today Digital that security arrangements would remain the same, with barriers re-erected to manage any further march attempts.
With Abhijeet Dipke’s pledge to continue the sit-in and march, fears of more violence loom as the capital braces for another day of high-stakes confrontation between the CJP and the authorities.
