New Delhi: A tragic road accident in Dwarka, South Delhi has claimed the life of a 23-year-old man after an SUV driven by a teenage boy collided with his motorcycle earlier this month. The victim has been identified as Sahil Dhaneshra, a young resident of Delhi who was reportedly heading to work when the crash occurred around the Lal Bahadur Shastri College area on February 3, 2026.
What Happened in the Crash
According to police and video evidence reviewed by investigators, a Mahindra Scorpio SUV, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy without a valid driving licence, collided head-on with Sahil’s motorcycle. The footage — shot from inside the SUV and widely circulated online — shows the vehicle narrowly missing a bus before it struck Sahil’s bike on a road in Dwarka.
After hitting the motorcycle, the SUV continued forward and also collided with a parked taxi at the scene. Sahil was declared dead at the spot; the taxi driver was injured and taken to IGI Hospital for treatment. Police seized all three vehicles involved and collected CCTV footage from nearby cameras as part of the ongoing investigation.
Autopsy and Injuries
A post-mortem report revealed that Sahil suffered multiple fatal injuries, including a skull fracture, brain swelling and severe internal haemorrhage, consistent with the high-impact collision.
Accused and Legal Proceedings
Delhi Police confirmed that the SUV driver was a minor and did not possess a valid driving licence. Initially, police considered trying him as an adult, but records later established him as underage. The Juvenile Justice Board sent the accused to an observation home but granted him interim bail so he could appear for his Class 10 board examinations. Police also filed an FIR against the teenager’s father for allegedly permitting the minor to drive the vehicle, under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Family’s Allegations and Public Outrage
Sahil’s mother has been vocal in demanding justice for her son. She alleged that the teen was filming a social media reel at high speed at the time of the crash — posting footage that showed the SUV weaving into oncoming traffic moments before the collision. She urged authorities and the public to take a stricter stand against irresponsible driving and dangerous online trends.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread concern over reckless driving, underage drivers and road safety enforcement in urban areas. Delhi Police continue to investigate the case, including reviewing video evidence, witness statements and the actions of all parties involved.
