BENGALURU: A routine visit by Telugu film superstar Jr. NTR to Bengaluru on Sunday turned chaotic after thousands of fans mobbed the venue, prompting police to resort to a mild lathi-charge to control the situation.
The actor was in the city to attend the inauguration of the KIMS Super Speciality Hospital in the Mahadevapura area. As news of his arrival spread rapidly on social media, a massive crowd of eager fans rushed to the hospital premises to catch a glimpse of the RRR star.
What Happened
The situation quickly spiraled out of control as the sheer volume of fans overwhelmed the arrangements at the site. Eyewitnesses reported that the crowd surged forward, creating a stampede-like situation and making it difficult for the actor and his team to move.
In an effort to restore order and prevent any potential injuries, police personnel deployed at the spot resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the unruly crowd.
Official Response
While no official statement has been released by the actor’s team or the hospital management yet, police officials confirmed that the action was taken to ensure the safety of everyone present, including the actor and his fans.
“The crowd became unmanageable. We had to use mild force to disperse them and bring the situation under control,” a police official at the scene said. No injuries have been reported in the incident so far.
Fan Frenzy
Jr. NTR enjoys a massive fan following not just in his home state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, but across the country, especially after the pan-India success of RRR. His visit to Bengaluru was always likely to attract attention, but the scale of the frenzy took everyone by surprise.
Videos and photos from the scene are rapidly circulating on social media, showing the massive crowds and the subsequent police action.
