Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) have threatened to target major US technology and industrial companies starting April 1, in what they describe as retaliation for attacks on Iranian territory. The statement named 18 companies, including Apple, Microsoft, Google, Intel, IBM, Tesla, and Boeing.
The IRGC warned that their regional operations could be hit, and urged employees of these institutions to immediately leave their workplaces to ensure their safety.
The Threat
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Threatening Entity | Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) |
| Start Date | April 1, 2026 (8 PM Tehran time / 10 PM India time) |
| Number of Targets | 18 US tech and industrial companies |
| Major Companies Named | Apple, Microsoft, Google, Intel, IBM, Tesla, Boeing |
| Demand | Employees to leave workplaces immediately |
“These companies should expect the destruction of their respective units in exchange for each terror act in Iran, starting from 8 PM Tehran time on Wednesday, April 1st,” the IRGC said in its statement, relayed by Tasnim news agency.
“Since the main element in designing and tracking targets are American and ICT and AI companies from now on, (these) main institutions will be our legitimate targets,” the statement added.
Why US Tech Companies Are Targeted
The United States has relied heavily on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support its military operations. These tools are part of an intelligence network that combines:
- Satellite imagery
- Surveillance drones
- Signals intelligence
- Real-time data analysis
| How AI is Used in US Warfare | Details |
|---|---|
| Data Processing | AI systems process vast amounts of data from satellites and intercepted communications. |
| Pattern Recognition | Spots movements or anomalies that human analysts might miss. |
| Precision Targeting | AI-assisted systems reduce time between target identification and action. |
| Real-Time Analysis | Enables faster decision-making and targeted strikes. |
Tech companies provide cloud infrastructure, mapping tools, or AI capabilities that can be adapted for defence purposes, making them part of the broader military-industrial ecosystem.
Context of the Threat
The threat comes amid escalating tensions in the West Asia conflict, which began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. Iran has previously launched missile and drone attacks on US bases and Gulf nation energy infrastructure.
The IRGC’s warning also highlights the growing role of AI and technology companies in modern warfare, positioning them as legitimate targets in Iran’s view.
