In a candid statement about his party leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, a senior member of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has declared that the politician is far more powerful and impactful than the celebrated film star ever was.
TVK Minister K.G. Arunraj, who serves as the state Minister for Milk and Dairy Development, made the remarks while speaking to the press, drawing a clear distinction between Vijay’s past in cinema and his present in governance.
‘The difference is visible’
Arunraj emphasized that the shift from the arc lights of Kollywood to the corridors of power at Fort St. George has changed the party leader’s stature. “Politician Vijay is more powerful than actor Vijay. He used to give a message through his films, but today he is implementing welfare schemes that reach the people directly,” Arunraj told reporters.
He noted that the Chief Minister is deeply committed to the party’s governance model and is personally monitoring the implementation of the TVK’s electoral promises.
Focus on a 2,500-Page Document of Promises
The Minister drew attention to Vijay’s dedication to governance, particularly referencing an extensive document of commitments the party distributed during the elections.
“He often tells us, ‘I gave a 2,500-page document to the people of Tamil Nadu during the elections. My aim is to fulfill 80% of what I promised in the next five years,’” Arunraj quoted the Chief Minister as saying .
Arunraj claimed that Vijay has instructed his ministers to diligently carry out the administrative work, ensuring that the promises made to the electorate are not forgotten now that the party is in power.
A Rare Transition from Screen to Fort St. George
Vijay’s political journey has been one of the most closely watched transitions in recent Indian political history. After years of hinting at his intentions through dialogues and media interactions, he formally launched the TVK and entered the electoral fray, successfully defeating the established Dravidian parties to form the government.
Arunraj’s comments reflect the party’s internal narrative: that governance requires a different calibre of leadership than acting, and that Vijay has successfully evolved to meet those demands.
