New Delhi, India – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday alleged that the Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government in Jharkhand handed over exam-related work to a blacklisted company without following a formal tender process. The allegation comes amid ongoing scrutiny of over a dozen major recruitment exams conducted since 2014 by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari referred to the students’ protests in Jharkhand to target Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Bhandari alleged that the company, TDPL, which was blacklisted, was given the entire responsibility for conducting the examinations by the Jharkhand government without issuing a tender. He further alleged that the State government gave a tender to a “tainted” company, which then outsourced the work to a “dubious” company, and that this outsourcing took place in cash. “No tender was issued. No bidder was invited to conduct the examination,” Bhandari said, adding, “As there was no written tender, did some corrupt money transaction take place?”

The allegations come as the Jharkhand government faces increasing pressure over exam irregularities, with students protesting for a CBI inquiry. The BJP’s attack is part of a broader political battle, with the party seeking to link the Congress and the JMM to the controversy. The State government has yet to respond to the allegations, but the issue is likely to intensify political tensions in the run-up to the upcoming elections.
