Comedian Samay Raina is back with the second season of his wildly popular roast show India’s Got Latent, and he has already stirred up a major controversy. In the opening episode, Raina targeted Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt with a series of sharp remarks, calling her film Jigra the “lowest point of her career” .

The episode, which aired on Netflix, featured Raina taking aim at Bhatt’s filmography and personal life. Among the most talked-about jokes was a quip about her acting choices. “Alia Bhatt is here. She says she wants to act in serious films. But after watching Jigra, I can say that it was the lowest point of her career,” Raina said, as the audience broke into laughter .

He didn’t stop there. Raina also made a remark about her father, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. In a segment about legendary directors, Raina reportedly said, “Mahesh Bhatt is not that good of a director anyway” .

Ranbir Kapoor as the ‘Happy Ending’

The jokes also extended to Alia’s personal life. In what many are calling his “most savage” joke of the night, Raina said, “At least Alia Bhatt got a happy ending in her life. She got Ranbir Kapoor.” The implication, linking her acting career to her marriage, has sparked significant buzz on social media .

Fan and Netizen Reaction

The internet has been divided over Raina’s remarks. While a section of viewers found the jokes hilarious and within the show’s format, others have called them “disrespectful” and “low-class.” One user wrote, “Why would Alia Bhatt even agree to be roasted? She has nothing to gain from this.” Another defended Raina, saying, “It’s a roast show. If you can’t take a joke, don’t watch it.”

Alia Bhatt has not yet responded to the controversy.

India’s Got Latent Season 2 kicked off with an impressive lineup of judges and celebrity guests. Alongside regulars like Balraj Singh Ghai, Ashish Solanki, and Raghav, the first episode featured special appearances by Bollywood heavyweights Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, and Sanya Malhotra. Their presence has helped the show quickly amass millions of views following its release. The new season premiered on Netflix on June 20 and is already trending as the number one show in India.
