Bobby Deol has heaped praise on his upcoming project Alpha, calling it a “complete entertainer” while lauding co-stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari for their “tremendous dedication” to the film.
“Alpha is a complete entertainer. I loved working on it,” Deol told ANI at a recent event.
The actor went on to commend the film’s leading ladies, noting the commitment they brought to their roles. “Alia and Sharvari, both are really hardworking. They brought tremendous dedication to the project.”
This is the first time Deol has spoken publicly about the project, building anticipation for what Yash Raj Films has described as the first female-led action spectacle in the studio’s spy universe. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are headlining the film as super agents, marking a significant shift in the franchise’s focus towards women-led storytelling.
High expectations for the spy universe
The YRF Spy Universe has delivered some of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including the Tiger series, War, and Pathaan, with the latter starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Alpha is expected to expand the world further while bringing a new dynamic by putting its female protagonists front and centre.
The film is directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously helmed the successful web series The Railway Men for the studio. Rawail has described the film as “a spy drama that has never been seen before” and has promised high-octane action sequences.
BTS glimpses and fan excitement
A teaser of the film was screened at the recent YRF 55th-anniversary event, where the audience caught their first glimpse of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in action. While an official trailer has yet to be released, sources indicate the teaser showed the two leads performing intense stunts, confirming that the film will match the scale of its male-led predecessors.
Netizens have already started speculating about the plot. Some believe that Alpha may serve as a prequel to Pathaan, potentially exploring the formation of a new super-agent unit.
A potential game-changer
With a blend of high-octane action, a superstar cast, and the backing of a hit franchise, Alpha is poised to be a major release. If successful, the film could pave the way for more female-led blockbusters in the action genre, challenging the industry standard of male-dominated spectacles.
“This film will be very special. I am excited for audiences to see it,” Deol concluded.
While an official release date has not yet been announced, industry buzz suggests the film is eyeing a late 2026 or early 2027 premiere.
