India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, with nationwide events highlighting the adoption of the Constitution, democratic values, and national unity. The main Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi blended military strength, cultural heritage, and India’s modern aspirations, drawing large crowds and international dignitaries.
The theme this year celebrated 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” and focused on unity in diversity, showcased through colourful performances and state‑representative tableaux.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) delivered one of the parade’s most thrilling moments with its flypast formations. Fighter jets and helicopters, including Rafale, Su‑30 MKI, MiG‑29 and Jaguar aircraft, soared over Kartavya Path in precision formations that symbolised operational prowess and aerial strength.
The aerial display also featured special formations such as the ‘Sindoor’ and ‘Spearhead’ configurations, celebrating the combat skills of the Indian armed forces and adding dramatic patriotic fervour to the ceremonial proceedings.
Celebrating Cultural Diversity and Heritage
The Republic Day parade went beyond defence exhibitions, highlighting India’s rich cultural tapestry. A total of 30 tableaux — representing 17 states and union territories alongside central ministries — showcased India’s history, arts, traditions, and modern development achievements.
Performances by around 2,500 cultural artistes depicted diverse regional dances, musical traditions, and the enduring spirit of unity in diversity — capturing the essence of India’s multicultural identity.
