New Delhi, July 23: Amid nationwide outrage over recurring examination paper leaks and days of protests led by students and opposition leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that the government will establish fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials and strict punishment for those involved in paper leak cases.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the welfare and future of India’s youth remain the government’s highest priority. He stated that concerned authorities have been directed to take all necessary steps to ensure swift investigation and prosecution of offenders.
“We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks… Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared,” Modi wrote.

The announcement comes after weeks of growing public anger over alleged examination irregularities and paper leak incidents that have affected thousands of students across the country.
However, the statement has also drawn criticism online due to its timing. The announcement follows widespread protests by students demanding accountability over paper leaks and examination reforms. Several demonstrations in recent days also witnessed clashes between protesters and police, with videos of detentions and use of force circulating widely on social media.
Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained earlier this week while participating in protests over the paper leak issue and alleging police excesses against students.
While the Prime Minister’s announcement focuses on legal action against those responsible for paper leaks, it does not directly address concerns raised over the handling of student protests or allegations regarding police action during demonstrations.
The government has maintained that it is committed to protecting students’ interests and strengthening measures against examination fraud. More details regarding the proposed fast-track courts and their implementation are expected in the coming days.
