Kochi, India – Odiyan: The Age of Illusion, the Malayalam film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, went on floors on September 14, 2026. Rahul Sadasivan of Bramayugam fame is the director of the movie. The film was launched with a pooja ceremony attended by the cast and crew. Prithviraj’s home banner, Prithviraj Productions, is bankrolling Odiyan in association with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, marking its Malayalam debut.
Odiyan is Sadasivan’s fourth horror film, after Bhoothakaalam (2022), Bramayugam (2024), and Dies Irae (2025). Originally shot in Malayalam, the movie will also be dubbed into Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Christo Xavier is the music composer, while Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor. Odiyan: The Age of Illusion is touted to focus on the legend of Odiyan, a mythical practitioner of Kerala’s oral traditions who possesses the supernatural ability to change shapes and use illusion as a weapon.

Manju Warrier will play the female lead role. The Odiyan character was previously the central character in Mohanlal’s 2018 film Odiyan, directed by V.A. Shrikumar Menon. Odiyan: The Age of Illusion will be produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Adar Poonwalla from Dharma, while Supriya Menon will bankroll the movie under the banner Prithviraj Productions. Meanwhile, Prithviraj is gearing up for his next Hindi release, Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and directed by Meghna Gulzar, which hits screens worldwide on September 18, 2026. He is also playing the antagonist in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus, Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, set for release on April 7, 2027.
