Actor Ranveer Singh has finally broken his silence after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him, effectively banning him from working with any of its members following his sudden exit from Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’.

In a detailed statement released through his spokesperson, Singh expressed “deep disappointment” over the federation’s decision and urged for dialogue to resolve the dispute.

What Ranveer Singh said

“I am deeply disappointed by the decision of FWICE. I have always worked with utmost professionalism and respect for every member of our film fraternity,” the statement read.

The actor clarified that his exit from ‘Don 3’ was not unilateral. “My decision to step away from the project was taken after multiple discussions with the production house. It was a mutual understanding, and I was assured that they would find a replacement soon. To now claim damages and issue a ban is both shocking and unfair.”

Singh added that he has always honoured his commitments and that “every misunderstanding can be resolved through dialogue.”

“I request FWICE to reconsider their decision and allow me to present my side of the story. I have full faith in the fairness of our industry bodies,” he said.

Why FWICE banned Ranveer Singh

The FWICE announced its decision on Monday following a complaint filed by Farhan Akhtar on April 11. According to FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit, Akhtar alleged that Singh had walked out of ‘Don 3’ just three weeks before the shooting unit was scheduled to depart for overseas locations.

Excel Entertainment, the production banner behind the film, has reportedly demanded Rs 45 crore in damages to cover pre-production expenses, including hotel and travel bookings for over 200 workers, location recce costs, and other arrangements.

Three reminders, no response

Pandit stated that FWICE followed due process, sending Singh three reminders every 10 days to appear before the federation. Singh’s team responded only after FWICE announced a press conference, questioning the federation’s jurisdiction.

FWICE President BN Tiwari declared: “We have taken this stand in the interest of producers and the industry. Until Ranveer decides to meet us personally, none of our workers will work with him.”

How the Don 3 controversy began

Singh was announced as the new Don in 2023, stepping into the role previously played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. However, the film went quiet for months.

In December 2025, shortly after the success of his film ‘Dhurandhar’, Singh officially exited the project. Reports suggested creative disagreements and script delays.

What happens next

FWICE’s directive could impact Singh’s upcoming projects. The federation has, however, left the door open for dialogue, stating that it remains willing to discuss the matter if Singh chooses to appear personally.
