Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir: A terrorist was killed during an encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, while three Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), sustained injuries during the operation, officials said.
Search Operation Led to Gunfight
According to officials, the operation began after security agencies received specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam. A joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
As the security forces moved through the area, the terrorists reportedly opened fire, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
One Terrorist Eliminated
During the encounter, security forces neutralised one terrorist. Officials stated that the operation was continuing to ensure the area was fully secured and to determine whether any additional militants were hiding in the dense forest region.
Three Soldiers Injured
Three Army personnel were injured in the gunfight, including a Junior Commissioned Officer. Officials said the injured soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment, with the JCO reported to be in critical condition. Their identities have not been disclosed.
Counter-Terror Operations Continue
Security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations across Jammu and Kashmir based on intelligence inputs aimed at preventing militant activities and ensuring civilian safety. Authorities said search and sanitisation operations in the area were still underway at the time of the latest reports.
